Reconstruction works of the Taikse waiting platform in Järva county

The reconstruction works of the waiting platform of the Taikse railway station in Järva county will begin at the beginning of September ( year 2022) based on the engineering design prepared by Reaalprojekt OÜ. The reconstruction works are commissioned by Edelaraudtee AS.

The design was prepared on the basis of building information modeling (BIM) principles, which allows the reconciliation and analysis of the project sepparate designing models already in the early stages of design, and gives the clients of the planned facilities the opportunity to monitor the life of the facility throughout its life cycle.

Edelaraudtee AS built the Taikse railway waiting platform in 2006 as the first euro-height waiting platform. At that time, there were no requirements for the waiting platform pavilion, stairs, railings, handrails, etc. therefore, they were not built according to the requirements in force today. The main reason for rebuilding the platform is to bring the facilities of the waiting platform in line with today’s requirements.

In addition to the design of the new waiting platform, the design work also included a bicycle parking facility with a roof, an asphalt concrete parking area for 5 cars (including 1 parking space for disabled persons), a railroad crossing and the necessary access roads. The existing waiting platform is made of wood with measurements 3×30 m, which will be built as a platform of 35 m long reinforced concrete slabs during the reconstruction works. The prospective possibility of extending platform to 150 m has been taken into account when preparing the design.

A waiting pavilion, safety railings, lighting, trash cans and benches were designed for the waiting platform as serviceable additions necessary for operation. The bicycle storage designed next to the waiting platform has been chosen with the option of charging electric bicycles.

The new railroad crossing to be built connects the waiting platform and Kruusaaugu road. Pedestrian barriers have been designed for safety purposes on the edge of the footpath leading to the crossing. Before the railway crossing, metal barriers are designed to ensure safety. 0.5m before the first metal barrier, it is planned to install tactile concrete stones in the overpass cover.
